When a C-Store is More Than Just a Convenience

There are convenience stores that are attached to a canopy with a bunch of gas pumps – which are the primary reason the store is there.

There are also places that people go to, because they are more than just a c-store to visit after a fill-up. They keep going to this particular store (or a chain) for something they won’t get anyplace else.

We just read a story about Lagneaux’s Country Store in Duson, Louisiana. When it was built, it was almost in the middle of nowhere. But the area grew, and the store owner gave the customers what they won’t find at a regular c-store.

The center stage at Lagneaux’s is given to a meat section with walls of meat products that rival a well-stocked supermarket.

But that, and even fresh produce, is not what I’d go to Lagneaux’s for. They also are known for making some mighty good boudin. And when people find a boudin they like, they become loyal, passionate customers.

You’d think that this is an exception, and you may be partly right. But the thing is, Lagneaux’s is just one of not-so-few stores that have their “thing”.

For example, if you happen to drive around middle Georgia and see a Friendly Gus convenience store, be sure to stop there. Even if you don’t need a fill-up. These guys are not only friendly, but also make amazing fried chicken! People drive for two hours to buy that chicken, I’m not kidding.

The moral of this short story is, if you want to make much more money from your store, make it something more than just a convenience, competing with a big name/low price c-store across the intersection. Make your place a destination place. A place that people keep returning to.

It sounds easy on paper, but in real life it’s quite a lot of work, involving thorough analysis of traffic patterns, travel times, points of origin, and a myriad of demographic parameters…

It takes a fully staffed analytics department to deal with data of this complexity.

It costs a lot.

Or so it was, until Ticon came up with an easy, affordable solution to this important but challenging task. Ticon’s traffic analysis report, demographic report by address, enhanced with traffic flow demographics, can be produced for you in a matter of days. No need to enter into lengthy agreements or pay hefty user fees. You only pay for what you need, when you need it.
