Wawa is a Canada goose known for its size and stamina, allowing the birds to migrate over vast distances.

Wawa is also a chain of popular convenience stores that uses the bird as its emblem.

The store chain also has a propensity for moving over large distances. The Pennsylvania-native company currently has stores in nine US states and is going to celebrate its 61st anniversary with the grand opening of the chain's first convenience store in the 10th state – Ohio.

Located at 7198 Cincinnati Dayton Road, Liberty Township in Butler County, the store is the first of eight to 10 Wawa locations slated to open in Ohio this year. The grand opening will mark Wawa's entrance into its 10th state and takes place on Wawa Day — the founding date of the first Wawa store that opened on April 16, 1964, in Delaware County, PA.

As the big c-store chains keep growing bigger, mid-sized and small operators start feeling pressure, which is especially noticeable in real estate. All the good locations are being snapped out, and if you plan on opening your 5th or 25th store, there’s a concern that some big operator would get that location you considered for yourself, first.

What can you do? Well, you can partner with an expert that can serve as your force multiplier in retail site selection – such as Ticon. And, when you need to make a decision about a site for your next store, ask Ticon for the most reliable, accurate and business location analysis you can find – we got it for you.
